Christmas 2008

Hallelujah! Survived the hustle and bustle of another sweltering 80 degree Green Christmas. Financial meltdown be damned. More like an ever so slight thaw that the boys were oblivious too. The youngest believers in the household were quite pleased with what Jolly old St. Nick left under our tree. That silly Santa even left a Peavey Electric Guitar as Grayson requested. Still unsure of what the dude in the red suit was thinking! I know that we, along with the neighbors, will be quite happy when Grayson perfects all the riffs of Deep Purple's Smoke on the Water. Interestingly enough, I haven't finished filling out the product warranty registrations and some Christmas items are already in need of replacement parts. Go figure! I, personally, am looking forward to a quiet New Years at the lake. Hope Grayson doesn't want to bring the guitar. Bom, bom, bom...........

Ornaments

Ronnie and I made Cookie Dough Ornaments to adorn a Rosemary Tree Centerpiece. A neighbor had given us some premade dough. The dough consists of applesauce, cinnamon, glue and glitter. It smells quite nice. Ronnie and I worked on the ornaments one morning last week while the other kids were at school. We let them air dry on a wire rack for a few days. My parents came in to town on Friday for Ronnie's Birthday. We were consumed with party preparation and had not yet finished the ornaments. All they needed was a quick coat of spray shellac and a ribbon through the holes Ronnie and I had poked through the top of the ornaments before we set them out to dry. Imagine my surprise when we found out that shortly after dad's arrival, he had eaten one of the gingerbread shaped ornaments. This became the topic of conversation over the weekend and we all would get a chuckle at dad's expense. When Josh was home over the weekend, I began telling him how grandpa had eaten one of the Christmas ornaments and Josh replied "Those weren't cookies???" He was very serious. Apparently, one night after work last week, he too nibbled the head off of one of the gingerbread shaped ornaments. He said he spit it out because it didn't taste good. I guess he didn't say anything because he didn't want to hurt my feelings. I laugh every time I look at my Rosemary Centerpiece.

Grayson and Ronnie saw Santa today at one of our local malls. Thankfully, the line wasn't very long. This was probably due to the pricing of the photos. OMG! Santa was looking kinda rough and the set up wasn't the prettiest, but again, the line was not very long! Grayson did inform me that this would most likely be the last year he'll sit on Santa's lap. This statement from my nine year old made me quite sad. Ronnie told Santa he wanted a new bicycle with fireballs. This is the first we have heard of a bicycle. Ronnie already has a very nice bicycle, but it does not have fireballs. Whatever that means! LOL!

Holiday Season 2008

Wow! Only 9 more days til Christmas. We've accomplished a lot, yet there's still much to do! Tonight is Grayson's Holiday Program at school. We also have a classroom party this week and will celebrate Ronnie's 5th birthday on Friday with a Super Hero Party! We will find the time to squeeze in a visit and pictures with Jolly Old Saint Nick. I know we can do it!

Fall Ball Is Officially Over

Freedom! So very happy to report the end of another successful Little League Fall Season. It's rough to be away from the house and family several evenings a week and most of the day on Saturday. Looking forward to sit down dinners, reorganizing the house and lot's of down time. Even though we have already started spring registrations, I do not have to report to my volunteer position at the concession stand, a.k.a. the orange box, until March 7th! I guarantee my sit down dinners will not include hamburgers, hotdogs or french fries.
